When planning your wedding there are lots of unknowns and uncertainties. The key things looked for by us was of course a) the ceremony itself and b) the celebration. For the celebration part it the music had to be the catalyst.We wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and dance the night away.
Being Irish and loving traditional Irish music we knew there is nothing like a ceili to bridge across the generations and get everyone on the dance floor. Once the church and venue were booked due diligence was taken in booking the entertainment. It was refreshing to be able to book a band directly and not through an Agency. Kilcannon were not known to us and judgements were purely based on their performances on their website, especially as they were based in Hampshire and we reside in North London.
Their set list is a mixture of ceili and traditional Irish tunes interwoven with current music from the likes of Ed Sheerin and Nathan Carter we knew we could not go wrong. The process of booking was easy and the pre-requisites set by the venue were reassuringly normal for the band. Also, as the band are based in Hampshire and our reception was in Stevenage, the distance, thankfully did not deter them accepting the booking.
A year on people are still talking about our wedding and the entertainment Kilcannon brought on the night is often referred to. They worked well with the DJ who was booked independently and even allowed my brother and cousin to accompany them in the Siege of Ennis with an accordion and tin whistle. We have very happy memories and laugh at the craic that was had on the dance floor. When socialising is back to normal and Kilcannon are back on the road, don’t hesitate in booking. You will not be disappointed.

‘Couldn’t have asked for a better band for our wedding at Amberley castle. We first saw Kilcannon performing at a local pub in Whitchurch. Kilcannon played all the songs we liked and sounded like the Dubliners, which is what we wanted. We chose the songs we wanted, sent a playlist in advance and the band played them all. 
Everybody was up dancing with the upbeat songs and they included a few slow ones also. In memory of my Irish Nan the music was extra special and made it feel like she was there with us. The amount of people young and old that said to us after – “we loved the Irish band!” shows that the music was suitable for all ages. Compliments to all band members who played together well – the only thing we regret is not having Guinness at the wedding!’
